Dirk's update on Rover meet:

Steve Manwell and I have agreed to get together at an upcoming car show and discuss some of the details for the Rover event. I have suggested that this be an RSTCA event and it looks like Steve likes that idea. For dates I am considering the first weekend in June 2007. This coincides with a British car show called "British by the Sea" and thought that we could wind up our meet with a show of colors on that first Sunday in June. I have contacted the organizers and have put things into the works to see if they would be willing to make the featured marque "ROVER"

Lastly I have also extended an invitation to JR Wadhams (John) to come and give a tech session and perhaps send some much needed parts over for purchase at the event. John seems interested. We also discussed the possibility of getting order ready for US Rover owners for group shipment and pick up at the event.

Dirk Burrowes has generously offered to host what will likely be the biggest gathering of Rovers to date. He is in the process of preparing an event schedule for the Rover car event of century.

Dirk is willing to do whatever he can to assist in getting together as many Rover fanatics that will not let the marque rest and have a weekend of fun and camaraderie. He would like to make this as much as possible a family event and would like kids, wives, ex-wives/ex-husbands as well as past, present and future Rover fans to come and enjoy. So if you can spell Rover or even if you can't, your invited!

Tentative Plan:

• A nice location for the event

• Food for some of the event (Count on the best BBQ you have ever had and a great New England breakfast)

• Discounts on hotels in the area

• Logistics and transportation to and from an airport, if an attendee is not bringing a car. It would be great to host and assist Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and UK enthusiasts if possible and anywhere else a Rover is or has been

• Original Rover movie night

• Afternoon tea

• Discounted car transportation if you would like to have your car transported to and from the event

So what I need from everyone who is interested is ideas. What do you want for this event? When do you want this event? Dirk was thinking May 2007 but is open on this.

Car contest? Rover ball? What else can you think of?
